Uttarkashi - Yamunotri

Located at a height of 3235 meters above sea level, Yamunotri is one of the four important pilgrimages or Four Dhams in Uttarakhand. The main source of River Yamuna, the shrine of Yamunotri is located opposite to Gangotri and the road divides and leads to Yamunotri from Dharasu, which is located between Rishikesh and Uttarkashi.The actual source of the river lies still 1 km from here, at a height of 4421 meters. Since the way to the source is quite difficult to climb, most pilgrims and devotees offer puja at the temple. The temple has hot springs beside it.
